Backgammon Dojo · Last updated: October 5, 2026

The short version

Your games and progress stay on your device, and we never receive them. Backgammon Dojo plays fully offline: the AI opponent and the game analysis run on your phone. There is no account, no sign-up and no login, no ads and no in-app purchases, and the app sends nothing to any server of ours. It does send usage statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase and crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics, neither linked to your name or identity — see “Usage Statistics” and “Crash Reports” below.

One honest caveat: your phone's own backup, if you have it switched on, may keep a copy of your games and progress in your Google account — see “Where Your Data Is Stored”.

Data We Store

To remember your games and where you are in the course, the app saves this locally on your device only:

These are game records, counters and settings. They contain no personal details — no name, no email, no account or device identifier.

Where Your Data Is Stored

All of the above is written to the app's own private storage on your device. We never receive it. It is not uploaded to any server of ours, not synced to any account we control, and we keep no copy of it anywhere.

One thing you should know: the app leaves your phone's own backup switched on, and its files are part of what gets backed up. If device backup to your Google account is enabled, your games and progress may be copied into your own Google Drive backup and restored when you reinstall the app or set up a new phone. You can switch it off, or delete the backup, in your device settings under Google → Backup. That copy sits in your own account rather than ours, is covered by Google's privacy policy, and we cannot read it.

Usage Statistics

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to count how the course is used: when a game against the AI starts, ends or is abandoned, with its result, the cube value, the AI strength and the game's skill, luck and error totals, and how many illegal moves the rules refused; when a game review is opened and which mistakes in it are tapped; when a drill set starts and ends, with its score; which levels are completed; and which rule cards are shown or opened. The SDK also records on its own when the app is installed, opened, updated or removed, which screens are shown, and how long the app is in use. Google's SDK adds a random app-instance identifier that it generates, the app version, device model, operating system version, device language, and a general location (such as your country) derived from a masked IP address.

None of it is linked to your name or email, it is collected without your device's advertising identifier, and it is not used for advertising. Google processes it under its privacy policy. Only release builds of the app collect it; while you are offline it waits on your device until the next connection.

Crash Reports

The app uses Firebase Crashlytics so that crashes can be found and fixed. When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it records a report: the error and where in the app's code it happened, the app version, the device model, operating system version and orientation, free memory and storage at that moment, a random installation identifier that Crashlytics generates, and the last few usage events listed above. The report is sent the next time the app starts.

A crash report contains no name, email or account, and none of your games. Only release builds send reports, and never from the automated test devices Google Play uses to check new versions. Google processes reports under its Firebase privacy terms.

Data We Don't Collect

Outside of the usage statistics and crash reports above, Backgammon Dojo does not collect, store or transmit any of the following:

Data Deletion

Your games and progress are yours to delete, and you never need to ask us. To remove what the app has saved:

If your phone's backup is switched on, also delete that copy (Settings → Google → Backup). Otherwise reinstalling the app, or setting up a new phone, can restore your games from that backup. It is in your own Google account, not ours, so it is yours to remove.

We hold no server-side copy of your games or progress, because none is ever collected. Besides the usage statistics and crash reports above, which are not linked to your identity, the only things we can hold are an email you chose to send us, or a review you left on the store — email us to have the former deleted, and use the store to edit or delete the latter.

Third-Party Services

The app bundles two third-party SDKs, both from Google Firebase. It contains no advertising SDK, and nothing that tracks you across other companies' apps.

The AI opponent and the game analysis are built into the app and run on your device; they send nothing anywhere. Google Play also distributes the app and reports aggregate install and crash statistics to us as the developer. That is a function of the store, not of anything in the app, and it never identifies you.

Children's Privacy

Backgammon Dojo is a self-contained game that asks no one, including children, for personal information such as a name, email address or location. Its only data collection is the usage statistics and crash reports described above, which are not linked to anyone's identity.

Changes to This Policy

If the app's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated and the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change to reflect it. Please check back here for the current version.
